Black Prince Tomato is an organically grown, dark purple-black heirloom variety originally from Siberia. First introduced from Irkutsk, Russia, it is regarded as a “true Siberian tomato,” thriving even in cooler climates. Until recently, it was considered a rare variety, but its popularity in Russia has grown so much that a company in Volgograd now produces an extract called Black Prince Tomato Oil.
This variety is celebrated not only for its rich, earthy flavor but also for its health benefits, including high levels of lycopene and antioxidants, making it a functional addition to your garden and kitchen.
🌱 Sowing Instructions:
🌞 Site & Soil:
Planting time: Tomatoes are warm-season plants; sow only after the last frost.
Temperature sensitivity: Low night temperatures below 13°C (55 °F) can cause blossom drop, even if days are warm. Optimal day temperatures: 21–32°C (70–90 °F). Optimal night temperatures: 18–24°C (65–76 °F).
Soil requirements: Deep, loamy, well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
pH preference: Slightly acidic, pH 6.2–6.8.
🌿 Care & Maintenance:
Fertilize with organic tomato fertilizer or compost.
Keep soil consistently moist but avoid wetting leaves to prevent disease.
Support plants with cages or stakes as they grow.

Fruits are firm, dark purple-black when fully ripe.
Harvest by twisting off gently or using scissors.
