Winter butterhead lettuce 'Nansen's Noordpool' is a medium early variety developing large, closed heads. The leaves that are densely packed are medium-large, smooth and crunchy. They take on a pale green color and have only slightly wavy edges. High quality of the greens and productivity are by far not the only advantage of this variety.
Nansen's Noordpool winters in the field without additional protection and produces a very early yield of heads that are equal in quality to those grown in the greenhouse. Its leaves are perfectly suited for direct consumption as they are firm, fresh and exceptionally tasty. They are rich in provitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, calcium and iron.
