🍃 Henna (Lawsonia inermis), also known as hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and Egyptian privet, is a flowering plant used for natural dyeing. Its leaves produce lawsone, a pigment used in body art (mehndi), hair coloring, and textiles. Historically, henna was cultivated in North Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and parts of Australasia, and has been used for cosmetic and ceremonial purposes for thousands of years.
