Jacaratia digitata is a evergreen or semi-evergreen medium-sized, rather sparsely branched tree to 20 m tall with a conic spines on trunk and branches with large, palmate leaves on long stalks.
Native to rainforests in the western and southern regions of the Amazon from Colombia to Bolivia at low and moderate elevations.
The edible fruits are sometimes gathered from the wild for local use and it is occasionally cultivated in its native range for its edible fruit. Female trees produce oblong, angled, yellowish orange, papaya-like, edible fruit up to 12cm long.
Bloom Time - Fruiting is 2 to 3 years and moderate maintenance is required.
