🍅 Andean Horn (Andine Cornue) Tomato Seeds 💰 Price: Package of 5 Seeds | Rare heirloom variety, sweet, meaty texture, ideal for sauces & salads! 🍅✨
The Andean Horn Tomato (also known as Andine Cornue, or Horn of the Andes) is one of the original tomato varieties from the Andes, introduced by a French collector several years ago. This traditional variety is highly appreciated for its excellent organoleptic qualities and is regarded as one of the best-tasting tomatoes. The average fruit weight is between 150-250 grams, but some can grow as large as 400 grams. The fruits are raspberry-colored, very resistant to cracking, super-sweet, with little acidity, and have a rich flavor with few seeds. They ripen in about 80 days. The plants grow to a height of 120 to 180 centimeters, are robust, and highly productive. 🌱🍅
The Andean Horn Tomato is an ancient heirloom variety, native to South America, known for its elongated, chili or bull's horn shape, firm, meaty texture, and low moisture content. The sweet, rich flavor makes it perfect for sauces, salads, and stuffing. These vigorous, productive plants thrive in warm conditions but require staking for support. 🌞🍅
Appearance: Bright red, elongated fruits, often 15-18 cm (6-7 inches) long, resembling peppers or bull horns.
Texture & Flavor: Dense, meaty flesh with very few seeds, low acidity, and a sweet, rich taste.
Uses: Ideal for cooking, sauces (coulis), paste, canning, or stuffing due to its thick walls and low moisture.
Plant Growth: Semi-determinate or indeterminate (requires staking/caging), vigorous, productive, and mid-season to late-maturing.
Origin: Native to the Andes, popularized in Europe by French botanists. 🌍
These tomatoes need full sun to develop the best flavor. 🌞
Rich, moist, and organic soil is ideal for these tomatoes. 🌱
Stake or cage the plants as they grow tall and heavy. 🍅
Keep consistently watered, especially during dry periods, to prevent blossom end rot. 💧
The Andean Horn Tomato is susceptible to mildew. Companion planting with aromatic herbs can help protect them. 🌿
Pruning: Regularly prune to ensure healthy growth and better airflow through the plant.
Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer to encourage strong plant growth and high yield. 🌿
Pests: Although resistant to many pests, always keep an eye out for aphids or caterpillars. Use organic pest control methods if necessary. 🐞
Delicious Flavor: Super-sweet, low-acid, and meaty texture perfect for a variety of dishes. 🍽️
Versatile: Great for sauces, pastes, canning, or stuffing. 🍅
Easy to Grow: Thrives in warm climates and requires minimal maintenance once established. 🌿
